The Popular Organization Terra Liberta (Brazil) calls on workers, grassroots movements, environmental groups, and community organizations around the world to stand in solidarity with the families of Vila Gomes, in Fortaleza, Brazil.

A project led by Fraport, a German multinational headquartered in Frankfurt, has already caused serious environmental damage and direct harm to nearby communities.

Dozens of hectares of native forest have been cleared to build a billion-dollar logistics complex. In recent days, the consequences have intensified.
After heavy rains, a section of the airport wall collapsed and floodwaters invaded the community, destroying homes, furniture, and basic belongings. Families lost what they built over years of work.

Last night, the situation worsened. Families spent the entire night under flooding, and another part of the wall collapsed, affecting even more homes.
In the morning, residents organized and took action. They gathered in front of the construction site and blocked the BR-116 highway in protest, demanding answers and immediate solutions.

WHY THIS MATTERS
What is happening in Fortaleza reflects a pattern between center and periphery, where large corporations expand their projects while the costs fall on working-class communities.
In Vila Gomes, most families have low income and limited resources. They are now dealing with loss, displacement, and health risks.
OUR DEMANDS
- Immediate suspension of the construction works in the affected area
- Full support and compensation for all affected families
- Independent investigation into environmental and structural damages
- Protection and recovery of the remaining forest area
SOLIDARITY
The families of Vila Gomes are resisting and organizing.
International solidarity can strengthen this struggle and increase pressure on those responsible.
Stand with Vila Gomes.
Hold Fraport accountable.
